What is a font reference anyway?
Font reference files are custom graphic references designed to show as many glyphs as possible in a compact space.
It can be difficult when browsing and viewing fonts to get a full sense of all the possible glyphs and their weights. It has been a recurring problem to reach for a specific font only to realize it is limited to capital letters or some other detail which makes it unusable. By getting all numbers, punctuation, lower and uppercase letters, as well as some sample text (Lorem Ipsum), in a variety of weights in the same graphic at the same time, it becomes much easier to judge a fonts suitability.
The goal is to have a large collection of font references in a unified style to make browsing for suitable fonts a visually pleasing experience while providing a more informed view of the available font styles.
